Η σειρά 500 αποτελεί τη νέα πρόταση της Cisco για managed , stackable small business switches. H διαχείρισή τους, όπως και των stacking δυνατοτήτων είναι πολύ εύκολη μέσω γραφικού περιβάλλοντος , ενώ για πρώτη φορά μπορείτε να συνδυάσετε Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, και 10 Gigabit Ethernet ταχύτητες σε ένα ενιαίο stack. Όλα τα Cisco switches της σειράς 500 χρησιμοποιούν κοινά chipsets / λογισμικού ,έτσι ώστε όλα να υποστηρίζουν το ίδιο σετ χαρακτηριστικών ενώ είναι πλήρη συμβατά με όλη τη γκάμα των small business προϊόντων της Cisco.
